Equine Influenza Surveillance – Improving Diagnosis and Control

·         To continue our surveillance programme for equine influenza.
 
·         To expand the surveillance programme to other viruses for example, equine herpesviruses and viruses of emerging significance.
 
·         To characterise all influenza and herpesviruses isolated.
 
·         To prepare reference antisera against epidemiologically relevant influenza viruses for distribution to other laboratories.
 
·         To continue to monitor dogs for interspecies transmission of equine influenza.
 
·         To conduct independent comparative vaccine studies.
 
·         To evaluate new diagnostic kits.
 
 
The results of this study will be published on this web page and made available on completion at no cost. Completion is scheduled for December 2012
